It’s always interesting seeing things from the other side of the coin. For over a year now we have always been the group behind the scenes, either planning or covering an event, never participating directly. For the first time, our Project 3 Mazda sedan was a competitor in a car show, Import Faceoff.

While competition wasn’t really a huge factor with just over 100 cars, we are proud to say that Project3 did bring home the Best Mazda trophy from the event, which makes us very happy (and hopefully our sponsors too!) . Team Menace like most shows this year swept every single class they competed for including Best Team Overall and $200 that they promptly spent at the closest buffet. Jason Campbell’s NWMotiv Hyundai Genesis took home Best Other and frequent show champion Jamarri Whiteside won Best Subaru but was upset for Best of Show by a new lowrider themed Honda Accord owned by  Trevis McPeak. For a full list of winners, please see the bottom of this post.

Import Faceoff is more than just a car show, but also a high stakes Drag Racing competition at the same time. SpeedFactory wasn’t joking around when it brought a fleet of the fastest Honda’s in the Northwest to compete against notables from Cobb Tuning, KS Tuning and more! Kevin Kempf in his Outlaw white Honda Civic hatchback ran an 8.80 at 177mph for his fastest run of the day! Also, winning their 4th straight competition, Sipes Brothers Racing in their All Natural Red EG Hatch put up a best run of 10.46 at 132mph!
