I am the Captain Now
Like the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Well this is not the end for NWMotiv. Not by a longshot.
By Vinnie Nguyen
Many of you may not know me, but my name is Vinnie Nguyen. I have been a staff photographer and writer for NWMotiv since 2013. Starting at the end of this year, I will be officially taking the reins from Josh and Armin as NWMotiv’s Event Coordinator. I do not plan on letting the efforts of Josh Mackey, Armin Ausejo, Matt Faraca, Jason Campbell, David Fotheringham, and the rest of the founding members go to waste. Now, this does not mean that Josh and Armin are going anywhere — they have big plans for NWMotiv as they are going to be focusing more on bringing a variety of new content to our website. There is still more for them to do and there is more room for NWMotiv to grow.
Dating back to 2010, NWMotiv started with a mission of bringing the car scene back to its former glory. Up until now, the founding members worked hard to bring the highest quality content, events, and merchandise to the Pacific Northwest. With shows like Forum Fest (now known as DriveNW), inMotion, Hondafest NW, and others, NWMotiv was able to bring back what was lacking in the Pacific Northwest: competition and quality. As I step into this role, I plan on upholding the standard that we’ve been working so hard to maintain with the experience that I’ve gained up until now.
I first stepped into the automotive community in 2011 where I attended and photographed my first event, which coincidentally was Forum Fest 2011. This event was memorable because the biggest thing that stood out was the fact that not all of the show cars were high-end builds: in fact, there were many builds of different stages. Everyone in attendance proudly showed off their cars as they spoke to the various judges. This was my first experience with NWMotiv, and certainly was not my last. I continued my journey into the automotive community when I was picked up by NW-Built. During my time with NW-Built, I was able to develop my skills with automotive photography, blogging, and a bit of event planning. I want to give Zach Taiji a shout out for giving me the platform to gain this experience.
When I joined NWMotiv in 2013, I realized they operate on a different level, and that I would gain valuable experience working with this team. These past several years with NWMotiv has been beneficial to my personal and professional interests. From photography to event planning, I learned a lot about paying attention to every detail. One of the most important reasons why our events run smoothly is because we put a lot of thought into every aspect – from parking to judging, our team makes no compromises. When it comes to our events, website, merchandise, etc. our team holds great standards to ensure high quality content for the community. You have all seen the product of our team’s dedication and hard work throughout these years, and I plan on continuing that as I move forward with our events. As the new Event Coordinator for NWMotiv, I would like everyone in the community to know that I am open to all ideas and feedback. If you see me at events, don’t be afraid to say hi. If you don’t know who I am, I will be the NWMotiv staff member that’s dancing.
With that being said, I would like to announce our events for 2017 (actual dates still TBD).
