Formula Drift in Seattle is a gamble, not on the participation, but the weather. For the second straight year, temperatures at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA have reached 85 to 90 degrees or hotter. A timeline of Formula Drift events in the Northwest dictate that it’s either going to rain a lot or be hot and at least for this year’s event, the rain held itself for Thursday’s practice only.

Formula Drift, by default, is Seattle’s largest import focused event. Of course it has domestics and maybe even some European cars, but drifting is by far an imported motorsport event.  The only other event that can rival the size is Forum Fest, which you of course already went to.

We start Day 1 pit coverage on Friday, since Thursday isn’t open to the public and is strictly for practice and testing. Most Fridays for Formula D are slow, often enticing people with cheaper tickets to see similar action that they would on Saturday without the massive crowds, but also includes the pro-am qualifying and practice. While that might be a benefit to some, we like the excitement and roars from the over packed crowd on Saturday’s main event.

The vendor rows didn’t seem too packed this year compared to years past, but maybe the event staff figured out a better way to organize all the teams and vendor booths. Regardless of the size of the pits, there were still very many notable cars in attendance including several from Team Menace rocking new Nitto tires.  See the rest in the gallery below and bookmark us for continued coverage!
