Project Si – Drag Race Update

This past Sunday was the opening “Test and Tune” day at Firebird International Raceway just outside of Boise, Idaho.   With the sky being clear I figured I would give the SI a run down the 1/4 mile to see what it could do.    Even with a nice blue sky it was still sub 40 degrees for the first part of the day and the wind was bursting anywhere from 10-20mph, and with my luck it was also a head wind.   With the SI being more prepped for autocross there were a few things I took away from today that can hopefully help better the times I run on the 1/4 mile.  For instance, camber settings in the front which are great for autocross are not so great for drag racing.    However; even with the SI being in “Autocross Mode” I was able to run a best time of a 15.014 at 94.9mph… I am happy with the trap speed, but wish the ET could be better (2.4 60fts aren’t helping either).   With more goodies on the way for the Project SI, I am looking to have a better showing at the season “Sport Compact” opener on May 15th, hopefully weather will be on my side that day also.    Until then, I get to chase more cones!!!

Here is a in car video of my final/best run:

Also, here are few photos taken by the tracks photographer Gary Himes!!!
